Seth Gamble takes spelling bee championship for 2nd year

The annual Rachel B. Stoffer Spelling Bee was held at Newcomerstown Middle School on Friday, January 26, with 32 students in grades 6-8 participating.

After 14 rounds, 8th-grader Seth Gamble became the Champion for the 2nd year in a row This year earned the championship by correctly spelling the word "entrepreneurs."

After a well-fought battle, Caitlin Green, daughter of Ryan and Christie Green, earned the first runner-up trophy. Second runner-up was 7th-grader Dakota Offman, son of Kelly Offman. 

Special thank-yous go to Tyler Kiner, pronouncer; Shelley Cline, Lana Cushman, and Michelle Golder, judges; Carol Boltz, recorder; and Ashley Brooks, stage director.

Seth will travel to Glen Oak High School in Canton on March 3, for Canton Repository’s 72nd Annual Regional Final Spelling Bee. The bee will begin at 1:30 p.m. and is presented by Malone University Students from Stark, Tuscarawas, Carroll and Wayne counties will be competing.
